Meter Registry

A Meter needs to be registered into the Organisation Device Registry. Devices can be registered individually or registered during the Site upload process. An optimal registration process is where all the attributes have been configured based on the utility type. 

The registration template

Templates define common Inherent Attributes. To eliminate the repetitive configuration of Meter Attributes, Meters can inherit a common set of Inherent Attributes. Meter Templates are deployed to minimize repetitive Meter configuration tasks.

Templates are created within the Organisation.

One or more Meters can be associated with a Template.  On the association of Meters with a Template, the Meters inherit all the Inherent Attributes configured in that Template.

Single inherited Inherent Attribute values can be overridden for a specific Meter.

Templates save time and effort and reduce the need to perform tedious repetitive attribute configuration tasks.

Significant Template Features

• Must have a name.
• A Template cannot be shared between Organisations.
• It is recommended to create a Template for each utility type.
• Meters can be moved from one Template to another and then they inherit the Attributes of the new Template.
• When a Template is updated, the updated Attributes of the Template are not automatically reconfigured in the Meters pre-associated with that Template. In order for the updated Template Attributes to cascade down to the pre-associated Meters, the cascading option needs to be explicitly selected.
