Certain Organisations might request that a Consumer submit a manual Meter Reading of a Meter at a Location. A Consumer cannot submit a Read unless a Read Instruction has been sent to the Consumer App.
How to submit a read:
Step 1: On the Consumer Application landing page (Accounts screen), select the Location icon on the navigation menu to navigate to the Locations and Meters page. Note: If there is a read instruction, the icon will have a number depicting the number of instructions available.
Step 2: Find the location where instruction is available and select it.
Step 3: On the Locations page, click the Instruction Read button.
Step 4: Select the meter to submit a reading for. This will load the Manual Meter Read page.
Step 5: Select the camera icon to take a photo of the meter. The application will require permission to use your phone's camera.
Step 6: Take a picture of the meter, and make sure the reading value is clearly visible in the picture. Enter the reading manually, as it appears on the meter, and add a note if necessary. You can now submit your manual meter reading by clicking the Submit button.
Step 7: Upon completion, a read-submitted confirmation message will display at the top of the screen and you will be taken back to the landing page.
Step 8: After the read is submitted, a notification will be sent with the status of the meter reading.
Once a Read has been submitted it may be subject to Quality Control rules. Refer to the Field Manager Module for Quality Control.
- If the Quality Control is successful, the Consumer will be notified that the Read passed.
- If the Quality Control is unsuccessful, the Consumer will be notified that the Read failed and the reason will be given.
If the Read failed, the Consumer cannot submit another Read until another Read Instruction has been sent to the Consumer. It might be that the Organisation decides to send out an Agent and not rely on the Consumer
