Tariff
Tariffs are used to charge usage of utilities and are essential to the creation of utility bills by which Utility Providers charge for utility consumption.
Tariffs are created, maintained, and managed in the Tariff Module. WeBill distinguishes between a Tariff and a Rate. A Tariff is an amalgamation of Charges, and each Charge has one or more Rates. Each Tariff must have a name and at least one Charge. Charges are set up in Charge templates. Rates are added to Tariff Charges within Tariff Rate Journals.
Tariff = Name + Charges.
Charge = Name + Utility Type + Index + Denomination + Frequency + (Rate(s)).
Journal = Versioned permutations of all Tariff Charge Rates.
Public versus Private Tariff
Public Tariffs are searchable and reusable by any Organisation. Private Tariffs are created by an Organisation and can only be used by that Organisation. An Organisation cannot create Public Tariffs.
WeBill creates and maintains Public Tariffs. WeBill supports the following Public Tariffs:
- Eskom tariffs.
- NERSA approved municipal tariffs.
- Several South African municipal and district water tariffs.
Tariff Types
WeBill supports three types of Tariffs:
- Flat.
- Block.
- Time of Use.
