Associating Tariffs
On associating a Tariff to a Site, that Tariff becomes a Portfolio Tariff. Portfolio Tariffs can only be associated with a Site (not with a Unit). Portfolio Tariffs can be linked to Meters associated with the Site or its Units. There can be more than one Portfolio Tariff per Site.
Tariffs are created and managed in the Tariff Module. Portfolio Tariffs from one Site can be re-used on another Site. Portfolio Tariffs can be sourced either from Public Tariffs or Local Tariffs.
A Portfolio Tariff requires a descriptive name.
Surcharges
In most countries, Tariff Charge Rates are regulated. Regulated Rates cannot be changed and therefore the Tariff rates cannot be changed. A surcharge can be applied to the Tariff Rates. Surcharges are only applied on Portfolio Tariffs.
A surcharge is a percentage, either positive or negative, on all the Charge Rates on the Tariff, from which the Portfolio Tariff is derived. Surcharges are configured when the Portfolio Tariff is created.
- Surcharges can be set globally and will apply to all the Portfolio Tariff Charges.
- The default global surcharge setting can be overridden on each individual Charge.
- If a surcharge is not configured, the default surcharge is zero.
Scenarios, where surcharges could be applied to Portfolio Tariffs, are:
- WeBill charges the Organisation a fee for IoT prepaid billing. To recoup this fee, the Organisation can add a Surcharge to the Portfolio Tariff.
- In a mall, the mall owner might wish to compensate an anchor tenant by charging less than the regulated Tariff. The Organisation can facilitate this by creating a negative surcharge on the applicable Portfolio Tariff.
